BaseballStatkeeper.com was born as the sibling of its older sister SoftballStatkeeper.com

• SoftballStatkeeper.com is, and has always been, a free site. It was specifically designed for slo-pitch softball for all my fellow umpires and buddies who love to play slo-pitch, and wanted to keep score and brag on the Internet. Over the years, many enhancements were made to the application, most notably to support the Fast-Pitch game. Because of this evolution, and because of the many similarities between fast-pitch softball and baseball, it was only natural to include as many baseball features as possible. It is still not perfect, but BaseballStatkeeper.com offers enough to now provide it as a dedicated web site for the baseball community.


• I make absolutely no money on SoftballStatkeeper.com, and in fact it costs me considerable time and money to run it. I have been happy to do so as I love the game, and love the community that has grown from it. It is a popular website for many all across the country and in fact there are teams from other countries using the site.


• BaseballStatkeeper.com is now free, but I admit, I may not be able to keep it free forever. Baseball is wildly popular, admittedly much more so than softball. It is possible, at some time in the future, I simply will not be able to support the traffic generated by this site to continue to offer it for free. The cost associated with running a high volume website is substantial. The time required to support a high volume website is as well.


• If, in the future, it becomes necessary to charge to use BaseballStatkeeper.com, I will notify the current community well in advance and advertise a detailed timeline for the transition. I will also offer to any current user, a download of their current data they may take to another site or use in any way they so choose. In essence, I want to assure anyone who chooses to use this site while it is free, that they will not lose their data simply because the site becomes a pay for use site.


• All that said, there are no plans at this time to charge to use BaseballStatkeeper.com. The decision to do so will be made purely on the basis of how popular the site becomes and how much traffic it must support.
